Located in the foothills of the McDowell Mountains, Fountain Hills is a Northeastern Scottsdale community that sits right on the edge of the picturesque Sonoran desert, with unspoiled views of park land and permanent open space. As a result, real estate in many parts of Fountain Hills comes at a premium, but the luxury homes there are definitely worth looking at. For the more budget conscious, there are townhomes and single family homes in Fountain Hills that will have attractive pricing. Developed on the site of what was once the largest cattle ranch in Arizona, Fountain Hills has almost 25,000 residents and features desirable golf communities like Fire Rock and Eagle Mountain. You can still buy new homes in Fountain Hills, and the higher elevation lends itself to slightly milder weather than that of nearby Scottsdale and Phoenix communities. Part-time residents may buy condos or winter homes, but the town’s proximity to Scottsdale ensures that people who enjoy fine living are well represented. Some of the homes on the side of the hill have commanding views of the park land to the East of the city, and people from all around are drawn to the town fountain, which regularly shoots a spray of water several hundred feet into the air. Fans of home architecture can see examples of Modern, Tuscan, and Santa Fe home styles in this city, along with gated subdivisions and quaint neighborhoods.

If you want to buy real estate in Fountain Hills but prefer a more vibrant nightlife, you might consider the fact that the City of Scottsdale isn’t too far away. Northern Scottsdale, where you can find lots of restaurants, fine shopping, and attractions, is a few miles to the West, and the 101 freeway can take you just about anywhere in town. Fountain Hills also has close proximity to the Fort McDowall casino, which itself has a great hotel, so you aren’t ever too far from entertainment and gambling. If you’re more of a nature lover, there are national and state parks off of the nearby Beeline Highway which offere everything from boating to trails, horseback riding, and inner tube rental.
